Lauren Shapiro, M.A., is a doctoral student at The Chicago School in Washington, DC, under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer McEwan. As a clinical psychology doctoral extern, Lauren brings warmth, curiosity, and a genuine passion for helping children and adolescents feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Lauren is dedicated to creating a welcoming, supportive space where her clients feel empowered to explore every part of themselves. She sees honesty, collaboration, and openness as essential pillars for building a transformative therapeutic relationship. With extensive experience working with children and adolescents, Lauren skillfully integrates a range of therapeutic modalities– including play therapy, art therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and person-centered approaches– to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs.
Her training also includes trauma and diversity focuses, which have shaped Lauren’s strength-based approach to therapy. Lauren believes wholeheartedly in the profound power of therapy. She understands that the journey toward healing and self-growth is one with challenges, but she views those challenges not as roadblocks, but as opportunities for her clients to build deeper strength, insight, and self-compassion.
