Licensed Clinician

Join Our Team!

Are you a mental health professional who is just starting out and you don’t want to work for a big company? Maybe you are a seasoned clinician who is tired of working alone or being responsible for all of the administrative aspects of running your own business. At MVFT we recognize that clinical work is hard and, therefore, we value having colleagues to engage with when clinical or professional questions come up. Whether you work 100% virtual, 100% in-person, or somewhere in between, we are going to give you the support and training you need to provide effective treatment so your clients can have awesome outcomes.

We are a thriving and collaborative fee-for-service group practice located in Alexandria, VA south of Old Town.  Our approach is experiential and empowering and is based in childhood and adult attachment theory.  We offer a range of services, including couples therapy (Emotionally Focused Therapy); family systems therapy; and child, adolescent and adult individual therapy.  We are also open to adding new services and groups based on the interests of the staff.

Requirements:

We are looking for clinicians who have training or interest in learning how to work with kids, teens and couples. Candidates who are independently licensed as LPC, LCSW, LMFT or Psychologist are preferred, but we will also consider candidates who are working toward licensure in Virginia. Candidates must be curious about continuing their growth as a therapist and be willing to be part of a warm collegial team.

Ideal candidates are interested in working with clients with a range of emotional issues (e.g., Depression, OCD, Anxiety, Eating Disorders).  Individual clients range from age 4 years to adult.  Interest in working with couples and/or families is a plus.

We have opportunities for full-time and part-time work schedules. Hours may be negotiated and need to include two afternoons/evenings, with a minimum of 12 hours dedicated to MVFT weekly. Attendance at virtual twice monthly staff meeting is required.  We offer excellent hourly compensation, matching retirement plan, CEU and licensing fee reimbursement, and in-house clinical supervision for Residents.

As W-2 employee you do not have to worry about independent contractor business set up or payroll taxes! We believe that our clinicians should enjoy their careers, so MVFT strives to provide fair compensation, autonomy over scheduling & vacation time, and support for peer consultation and career growth. We want our clinicians to concentrate on providing quality therapy, so we provide administrative support for scheduling and most administrative tasks.

Next Steps:

Interested candidates should submit a Cover Letter and a Curriculum Vitae or Resume to Jennifer McEwan, Ph.D., at DrMcEwan@MountVernonTherapy.com.
